👩🍳 Instructions
- Set up the turtle shapes
Place parchment paper on the table.
Put one pretzel twist down for each turtle.
👉 Great job for kids! Let them line up the “shells.” - Add the turtle legs and head
Tuck four pecans (or cereal loops) under the pretzel for legs and one at the front for the head.
👉 Perfect for little hands and creativity. - Melt the chocolate ⚠️
Put chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
Heat in 20-second bursts, stirring each time, until smooth.
🧓 Adult help needed here—hot bowl and melted chocolate. - Top the turtles
Spoon a small dollop of melted chocolate onto each pretzel.
👉 Kids can help carefully, or adults can assist for neatness. - Add the caramel ⚠️
Place a caramel bit (or small piece of soft caramel) on top of the chocolate.
🧓 Adult help recommended if caramels need softening. - Let them set
Leave turtles at room temperature for about 15 minutes, or pop them in the fridge for 5 minutes.
💛 Gentle Notes for Grandparents
- Don’t worry if the turtles look silly—each one has “personality.”
- This is a great chance to talk about real turtles, patience, and following steps together.
- Praise effort, not perfection (and sneak a turtle for yourself!).
